Are the earphones comfortable?
Yes. It is important that you choose the eartips that best fit your ears. All earphones are supplied with assorted eartips, including foam eartips, that fit the majority of ears. Different materials feel different to each person and seal differently in each ear. Custom earmolds are available but usually not necessary. If assistance is needed with eartip selection, customer service can help.
Proper insertion is vitally important. Please click here for more information regarding proper fit.
If you have never used earplugs or well-sealed eartips on earphones, then it may take a short time for your ears to adjust. With use, your ears will become accustomed to them. It just takes a little time. How much time is dependent on each person and the type of eartip.
Are in-ear earphones more likely to cause hearing loss than headphones or speakers?
No. In fact, research indicates the exact opposite. E.D.G.E. earphones provide high isolation, so users do not have to turn up the volume to block outside sound. Properly sealed in-ear earphones allow users to play the audio at lower, safer listening levels.
I'm not hearing stereo any longer. Are my earphones broken?
Most likely no. The most common cause for this symptom is a clogged filter. Your E.D.G.E. earphones use small filters to smooth the frequency response and to keep unwanted debris, like ear wax, out of the speaker driver. Simply follow the instructions included with your earphones. Remove the filter and replace it with a new one. If this doesn’t solve the problem, contact Customer Service
How far do the earphones go into the ear? Will they hurt my eardrum?
The average ear canal length is about 25 mm. A fully inserted 3-flange eartip will only go about 18 mm into the ear canal.
What kind of material is used in the 3-flange eartips?
The eartips are made of thermoplastic elastomer that has been thoroughly tested for safety and has been used successfully in millions of pairs of earplugs over the past 20+ years.
What's the deal with noise canceling technology?
There are two types of noise cancellation, passive and active. Passive noise canceling works by sealing out the ambient noise. When properly sealed, E.D.G.E. earphones provide 35-40 dB of sound reduction, more than twice as much as the most popular active noise-canceling earphones. Active noise canceling earphones attempt to remove outside sound by identifying the audio image and applying the inverse image of that sound to cancel it out. Since circuitry is used in these earphones, unwanted audio artifacts are often introduced into the system. The best active noise-canceling earphones reduce sound about 22 dB.
What is the difference between the GX400 and the GX100?
Higher response accuracy of the GX400. All E.D.G.E. earphones have similar sound isolation, and all products provide exceptional performance. Check out the Product Comparison sheet in the products section.
Do I need to clean the eartips?
Over time your eartips will likely become dirty or accumulate some ear wax. For the 3-flange tips, they can be wiped off or removed from the earphones and cleaned with warm water and a little mild soap. Be sure to dry the eartips before placing them on the earphones. Dirty foam eartips should be discarded and replaced.
Can these earplugs damage my eardrum if I remove them too quickly?
These eartips seal tightly, so suction can be created if they are removed too quickly. Be sure to remove with a slow, twisting motion.
I broke my E.D.G.E. earphones. What do I do now?
You need to get them fixed as soon as possible! Contact Customer Service to arrange for repair or replacement. You'll need to get an RMA number for either case.
What is your return policy?
You may return E.D.G.E. earphones for credit within 30 days of purchase. All items and accessories must be returned or there may be a restocking fee. If you purchased the product directly from E.D.G.E. Acoustics, a return merchandise authorization number (RMA#) is required to return the earphones. If you purchased the product from an E.D.G.E. reseller, the product must be returned to the reseller for exchange or refund.
What is the warranty on my E.D.G.E. earphones
All E.D.G.E. products are warranted against failure caused by defective material or workmanship. Some earphones have a one-year warranty and some have a two-year warranty. See Warranty Information for details on each product.
